Experience
Google (Climate & Science AI)
Design on Google Research’s Climate & Science AI team where we research, incubate and launch products and services to tackle the climate crisis through emerging technologies and explore the future of scientific exploration and discovery.
Publicly available projects include Green Light and Flood Forecasting.
Isomorphic Labs
Established and led the UX function at Isomorphic Labs for ~1.5 years, owning UX until we were able to hire our full time UX designer.
Projects include shipping powerful new capabilities to internal tools to support our scientists’ drug discovery workflows, UX strategy and dashboards for leadership (including our CEO, Nobel Laureate, Sir Demis Hassabis).
Google (Health)
Founding member of Google Health’s UX team following the consolidation of Alphabet’s healthcare efforts. UX Lead for Google Health’s Platform Experience team where we focused on delivering powerful AI capabilities safely and effectively to clinical teams.
Projects include Care Studio, capabilities available via Google Cloud, ownership of Google Health’s mobile design system, Alphabet’s rapid COVID-19 response team, launching a Flutter-based data visualization framework and scaling Streams, our mobile results viewing platform supporting NHS staff.
DeepMind
Visual design and UX for Streams, our mobile results viewing platform supporting NHS staff. Streams was assessed via a peer reviewed study and was found to be able to save the NHS an average of £2,000 per patient by alerting clinicians to acute kidney injury sooner.
Projects included Vital Signs, data visualization and Patient Profile.
ustwo
UX Designer working across health, auto, retail and fintech while also taking on an array of self-initiated projects. Work spanned early stage discovery and proposition validation to implementation support and scaling.
Beyond core responsibilities, I was a member of the DEI group, frequently presented ustwo’s work to students and industry partners, took on peer coaching, offered consultation for startups via ustwo Adventure and authored a chapter in ustwo’s book on the future of mobility, Humanising Autonomy: Where Are We Going?.
N.B. final year of employment at ustwo was as a contractor to DeepMind
Freelance
Following graduation I took on various freelance projects across design and development focusing on the creative industries such as fashion and illustration. I stopped taking on new work in 2016 to focus my time and energy on my full time job.
